Naracoorte and District Hockey Association: Round 14, 29th July 2023

Naracoorte and District Hockey Association: Round 14, 29th July 2023

By Amelie Nancarrow Under 13’s Dartmoor 3 defeated Greenbottles 0 Dartmoor goals: Mason White (3) Dartmoor best: Mason White, Eddie Dolphin Greenbottles best: Toby boord, Jada Copping, Henry fry With a top of the table clash and bragging rights leading into the finals it was shaping up to be a great contest between Dartmoor and Greens on Saturday. The grey clouds came in and it started to rain but that did nothing to dampen the spirits of all players. Despite the weather, it was a fast start with both teams getting out of the blocks quickly. The first quarter finished even but Dartmoor had the momentum. Once the rain had cleared early into the second quarter, Dartmoor showed their quality all around the pitch with fast ball movement and a lot of circle penetrations. The defence for Greenbottles was working overtime to keep them at bay. With very few opportunities […]

Tatiara at Padthaway next week

Tatiara at Padthaway next week

By Chris Oldfield The community spirit of Tatiara District Council will be on show once again when it meets at Padthaway for its August 8 meeting. Traditionally, Tatiara meets at least once a year at Padthaway and once at Keith. The meetings in the outlying towns are always held at 2pm – a time when local school students can attend, watch and ask questions of councillors and the administration. Then, during a special “kid friendly” afternoon tea, councillors and students are able to chat one-on one about school and council matters. Tatiara’s Padthaway meeting will be held on August 8 at 2pm, in the Padthaway Sporting Complex. The council hopes members of the public will also feel welcome to attend. The public forum section of the meeting will be held between 2pm and 2.30pm. Meanwhile, Tatiara is hoping to attract funding to help pay half of a $20,000 design for […]

Lucindale Ladies Golf 19th, 21st & 22nd July 2023

By Rosie Legoe Last week was the 2nd round of President’s trophy & Olympics with a Stableford competition generously sponsored by Wild Game Wines, thank you very much Mary & Guy. Our members are very grateful for your inaugural sponsorship & the prize winners were envied by all. Wild Game Wine’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (The Duke) & Shiraz (The Dame) have both received huge accolades from Winestate Magazine & recently raving reviews from QWine quoting “It’s quite the class act for the money”. How fortunate that we can all source & enjoy these wines & cheese platters from their cellar door @ our front door in Naracoorte! It was wonderful seeing Sally Macdonald back playing golf & we enjoyed having Michelle Dupree & Sammy Kiefel joining in. Despite the frosty morning we all welcomed the clubhouse fire (thank you Issie) as well as the sunshiny day. A Grade Winner was […]

Bridge Club results

By Bridging the Gap The Naracoorte Bridge Club is a great opportunity to play competitive bridge however it’s also nicely social & this was highlighted when our venue was unavailable recently & at the 11th hour & our quick thinking President, Jill Redway generously offered her home for the 22 players.  Our members are also indebted to Sue Hood who continues to offer the odd workshop, last week it was about how to best play a No Trump hand & it was heartening that 2 players used their lesson well on Thursday at the club.  Well done to Yvonne Hegarty & Mary Lush who both separately bid No Trump hands, achieved their contracts & top scored in their direction. Twenty ladies played last week, N/S winners were Jenny Clark and Rosie Legoe followed by Christine McDonald (special birthday girl) and Helen Cox.  Congratulations to E/W winners Janet Ottoson and Sylvia […]

Naracoorte Golf Club Ladies results 19th July 2023

By Sally MacLeod Last Wednesday, 18 ladies competed in a Par round very generously sponsored by Sweet Expresso. The winners received lovely gift boxes which they were delighted with. A big thank you to Aimee and her husband for sponsoring the ladies competition. Par is a very non-forgiving competition and the scores certainly reflected this! Di McCully, playing beautiful golf once again (if only we could all be as consistent as her!), won the A grade with +1 and she also scored a nearest the pin on the 16 th hole. The runner up was yours truly with – 3! This reflected the scoring on the day! The B grade winner was Susie Mort with -1 on a count back from Di Mcinnes and Mary Staude. Di and Mary were therefore recipients of golf balls in the ball rundown. Nearest the pin on the 7 th , sponsored by Naracoorte […]

By Max Clifford A good field of 66 went to Millicent’s course on a fine winters day, including 5 of our Victorian  neighbours, but they all found the course hard to score on, with 36 points the best in  both Divisions. In First, Bill Mullan, a local, won from Mark Pilmore 34, counting out Milan Hodak 34. Second Div went to Rob “Tank” Thompson 36, from Dennis Smith 34, and Bobby Davies 33. The ball rundown was to 28, and the Ross Orchard trophy winners were Brian Foreman and Ian Todd. The NTP’s were Noel Chant, Lindsay Storer and Simon Browning. Barry Brook gleefully snaffled the Scotch. We next visit Robe on July 31 followed by Blue Lake, August 14 and Mt Gambier on Aug 28.  “Got the Snake”

KNTNA A Grade match reports / KNTNA Junior report – Round 12

1° KNTNA A GRADE MATCH REPORT By Sally Bywater Bordertown v Lucindale Bordertown played a tight, strong, controlled game which made it difficult for Lucindale. Lucindale played a great team game resulting in well deserved turnovers. There was great defensive pressure all over the court from both teams which made it difficult for the goalies to score. Scores were even at half time, 16-16. Lucindale made changes at half time and capitalised on turnovers getting themselves in front at three quarter time, 28-25. A low scoring last quarter with Lucindale finishing off better to get the points, 38-31. Keith v Mundulla Keith came out firing with Mary Wachtel and Em Richardson shooting the lights out in the first quarter, 17-9 at the first break.
