By Tim Delany. Cattle: LWB 13 – LWY 347 – LWC 176 – OAY 3. Naracoorte agents offered a smaller number of 539 cattle which was 192 head less. There was a slight decrease in overall quality as it varied from very good to average when compared with last week. However the yarding did have some excellent heavy cows, younger cattle with cover and some well presented grown cattle within the trade run. The regular field of buyers attended not all operating fully. It was a close to unchanged cow market with the younger and grown steers selling from generally firm to a few cents dearer. Grown bulls did sell to less demand and were from 5c up to 14c/kg cheaper in places. Young steers to the trade sold from 270c to 350c, heavier steers above 400kg lwt made 264c to 310c and the younger heifers were mostly from 260c […]

Naracoorte Market Report 01/08/2023

By Tim Delaney, MLA Cattle: LWB 34 – LWY 303 – LWC 93 – OAY 35 Cattle numbers increased to 463 which was up 49 head on last week. Quality was mixed from very good pens of younger and grown cattle don to plainer secondary types in the Winter market. Heavy to medium weight cows were also offered and more bulls came forward. A smaller field of  buyers attended and there was less competition coming from the gallery. There was also some feeder and restocker interest at times. Younger and the grown cattle in the trade run sold from mainly from unchanged to 10c weaker and up to 15c/kg back in places. However a sale of outstanding yearling steers sold to 365c and yearling heifers reached 352c/kg. Heavy  cows sold to softer demand selling 4c to 10c/kg cheaper. By Tim Delaney, MLA Cattle: LWB 10 – LWY 217 – LWC 186 – OAY 1 Naracoorte cattle numbers increased this week to 414 a lift of 164 head. It was an improved quality yarding from very good to average with the offering containing some well presented prime yearling and grown cattle in the trade run and some heavy cows with excellent cover. The usual group of buyers were present with not all operating fully although bidding remained steady especially for the good quality. Restockers and the feeders were also active in places. Prices during the market were generally from firm to 10c/kg dearer compared to last week. The market was made up of approximately 186 cows, 202 trade run cattle and 25 bulls. By Peter Kerr, MLA Cattle: LWB 10 – LWY 149 – LWC 79 – OAY 12 Numbers fell sharply as agents yarded less then half of the week before with 250 head coming forward. These sold to the regular field of trade and processor buyers along with some feeder and restocker interest however with the small number not all of the buying field were fully active. Quality was mixed as the market ranged from firm to a little easier in price. Yearling steers to trade buyers made from 255c to 320c with similar heifers making from 270c to 340c/kg. Feeders sought steers from 250c to 326c with heifers returning from 285c to 325c as restockers took a single pen of steers at 315c/kg. Grown cattle were small in number as steers reached 285c with the heifers making from 218c to also 285c as the trade sourced all of this category. […]
