Your Say: Ken Grundy, Naracoorte The impact on the farming community resulting from the legislation in WA requiring aboriginal approval prior to basic farm jobs like fencing is of concern to all farmers across the nation. Already similar restrictions apply in parts of Victoria while other States are likely to follow. Concerns range from simple inconvenience to delays and costs for approval and court challenges ahead.  All of this when we have always considered Native Title is automatically extinguished when freehold is the recognised form of legal tenure. The meaning of rights attached to private property are being deliberately blurred and the good effort from the WA Farmers CEO, Trevor Whittington to seek legal opinion warrants support. WA farmers have provided over $25000 to start the fund. It is high time the Farmer’s Fighting Fund established by farmers forty years ago for examples just like this case, opened its wallet […]

Naracoorte and District Hockey Association: Semi-Finals

By Amelie Nancarrow  Under 13’s Redlegs 2 def Kingston Lucindale 1 Goals Redlegs: Grace Law, Seth Gale Goals Kingston Lucindale: Sarah Johns Best Redlegs: Seth Gale, Grace Law, Nate Haynes Best Kingston Lucindale: Sarah Johns, Lachie Withers, Samantha Heddles Report: The game started with Redlegs coming out hard and getting plenty of shots in early on, though they couldn’t quite manage to get through K/L’s defence. There were some excellent clears by the KL backline, and then the game evened out with a great show of teamwork and skill from both sides.  Finally, Grace from Reds managed to get one through, leaving them 1 up at quarter time. The second quarter seemed to be a reversal of the first, with KL starting out strong and determined to even the score, with some more excellent clears to be seen, this time by the Reds defence, and then the game evened out […]

Lucindale mens golf results

By Shawn Menz Saturdays competition was a pairs 4 ball better ball sponsored by quality wool. The weather was excellent for golf despite some late misty rain in the afternoon. Most players made the most of the conditions with some great scores coming in. With over 20 players in the field it was good to see numbers getting back to normal. Winner of the day was the impressive father and son pairing of Todd and Geoff Smith with a massive 47 stableford points. The unlucky runner ups to that score was the days sponsor Bill Lively and Jack Handbury with an equally impressive 45 points. I think Jack and Bill were pretty confident of winning the day with that score only to be outdone by Todd and Geoff. Other good scores were the marquee pairing of Don Theile and Chas Gilkes with 41, Malcom Graetz and Shawn Menz 41, Scooter […]
