2023 Senior Colts Preliminary Final – Bordertown v Kybybolite

2023 Senior Colts Preliminary Final – Bordertown v Kybybolite

By Barb Altus. Bordertown scored the first goal of the match when Hayes kicked truly two minutes in, before Kybybolite’s Ottoson-Crossling kicked accurately four minutes in, then George Malone made no mistake a minute later. After a minor score, Kyby’s Sidney Malone goaled, then Ellis gathered the ball and ran forward and his kick goalward bounced through the big sticks, before the Roosters registered a minor score. When Charlie Brodie kicked the final major of the first term the Tigers led 5-1-31 to 1-1-7. Kybybolite again attacked strongly in the second quarter, starting with a minor score before C Brodie collected the loose ball and kicked truly. The Roosters’ next attack resulted in a behind, before Kyby’s Freckleton launched attack from defence and S Malone made no mistake, then Ellis also kicked accurately. Bordertown’s Cornish drove the ball forward from defence and Hayes’ shot hit the post, before the Roosters […]

Yes is the first step

Yes is the first step

Your Say: Cliff Hignett, Naracoorte. The article by Nasik Swami was essentially a free advertorial for the No case in the referendum.  Why is the News passing up advertising revenue? And if you were paid then let’s have it marked ‘advertisement’ please. As I have said on these pages before, Tony Pasin’s opinion has no value.  His No vote has been bought. The Liberal Party was ordered to promote the No case by a faceless, nameless ‘controller’.  There were no meetings of grass-roots Liberal members to discuss the referendum.  There were no meetings of MPs to discuss it.  Did Opposition Leader Peter Dutton summon MPs to Canberra, forbid any discussion, and tell them that they will support the No case or be sacked (two Liberal MPs objected to the party’s stance and chose to resign)? At the last election, the Liberals not only over-spent taxpayer funds, but they overspent their […]

KNTNA Preliminary Final results

KNTNA Preliminary Final results

By Sally Bywater. A Grade: Keith 43 (Mary Wachtel) d Lucindale 39 (Chloe Cane). The game was off to a flying start with Keith initially controlling the game. Lucindale fought their way back to even the score at the end of the first quarter, 10 all. Keith had a very solid start to the second quarter but Lucindale closed the gap to be down by 4 goals at half time, 23-19. A very even game! By three quarter time, Keith were up by 7 (35-28), playing a very settled game putting in great defensive pressure but Lucindale were still right in it! Lucindale made a great effort to claw back, but Keith held onto the win. Well done to both teams! A Reserves: Penola 48 (Tess Porter) d Keith 37 (Melanie Makin). The first quarter was evenly contested with accurate shooting from Penola, they led by 6, 16-10. Keith lifted […]

2023 Junior Colts Preliminary Final – Keith v Kybybolite

By Barb Altus. The 2023 Junior Colts Preliminary Final was low-scoring and closely contested, with the Keith lads unable to score in the first quarter while Kybybolite kicked two behinds in the first minute followed by a goal by Crossling eight minutes into the term. The young Crows registered their first score, a behind, six minutes into the second quarter and the Kyby lads replied with the same score eight minutes later, and at half-time the Tigers led 1-3-9 to 0-1-1. Kybybolite started strongly in the third term, with a goal to Southern in the first minute, followed by a major by Nolan two minutes later. Keith continued to work hard, and Fisher replied with a goal six minutes into the term, before Kyby’s Captain Brewin booted a long goal thirteen minutes in and a second major two minutes later and at three-quarter time the Tigers led 5-3-33 to 1-1-7.
