Arson at Struan

By Chris Oldfield THE fourth fire at Struan was the result of arson and police investigations are continuing. “The investigations into the initial three fires concluded that there were no suspicious circumstances,” Primary Industries Minister Clare Scriven told The News. “The last fire, number four in the recent series, was clearly arson, as vehicles and a shed were broken into and set alight. “The police investigation is ongoing. Primary Industries and Resources SA (PIRSA) is not aware of any charges being laid. “However, this is a matter for SA Police. There has been no stolen equipment reported through the process to date. “On the properties at Struan and Kybybolite, research is undertaken into livestock production (cattle and sheep) and broadacre cropping.” Ms Scriven said specific research was targeted at crop agronomy, grazing management, animal wellbeing and behaviour, livestock nutrition, AgTech and climate change. “Approximately 20 staff are located at Struan […]
