The Naracoorte RSL ladies had a delayed start for their Round 8 at home last week against Millicent. Fortunately the Hurn Green was playable by the regulation wait time, as the new green was still well under water.

A new State Government-funded initiative will support the Limestone Coast timber and forestry sectors to address current skill gap shortages and develop the ‘workforce of the future’. The grounds at Memorial oval could not escape from the damage Friday’s storm caused in Naracoorte. A limb broke off the gum tree on the visitors side of the ground and caused damage to the fence.

The AGM was held on 10th November at the clubrooms. Very few members attended so this made the meeting brief. There were a few changes in the committee positions. Fay Schinckel is the President, Di Arnold is secretary/treasurer and Pat Carrick will be the booking officer.

It was wonderful having 26 ladies play 28 boards of bridge last week. We were thrilled four recently absent players returned, welcome back Julia, Ruth, Chris and Helen. Huge congratulations to E/W winners, Sally Macdonald and Sandra Haynes with a whopping 76.67%.

Last Monday ten ladies competed for the honour of the ladies singles champion for the 2023/24 season. In the first round A. Barker defeated L. Williams, and B. King defeated S. Bennett, the second round A. Barker defeated D. Arnold, H. Whitehead went down to C. Fox, C. Murphy defeated B. King and C. Healy defeated S. Williams.

After a cancellation of women’s last Friday due to heat, Naracoorte RSL and Districts Bowling Club had both Saturday divisions play away. Division 1 played against Millicent Red and had two rinks up and one down.
