Meals on Wheels volunteers donate their mileage reimbursement to their local social account, which is then paid forwarded, to support other local organisations charities. This time they have purchased two extra-large, 13-inch iPad’s for our residents to use, and needless to say, since their arrival, they have hardly been turned off! Some older people struggle with mobile technologies, often for reasons other than a lack of technological aptitude. The average smartphone measures 5 to 6 inches. This can make such a screen difficult for the older person with impaired vision to read and the screen size can also present challenges of manual dexterity for seniors who have arthritis or health conditions that cause weakness and unsteadiness in the hands.
