Border Districts are celebrating a drought-breaking premiership victory after winning their first ever KNTFL A grade football grand final on Saturday. In fantastic sunny conditions in front of a massive crowd at the Naracoorte oval, Borders took on Kingston, who also had never won a KNTFL grand final. The previous premierships for the two clubs were both in the former KNFL league, with Borders last winning it in 1991, and Kingston way back in 1984. Borders came into the game as narrow favourites, having qualified for the grand final first by winning the second semi-final, but Kingston had won their way through by coming from fifth place and winning three finals, so had plenty of momentum. Kingston had the better of the play in the first quarter of the grand final, leading 21-12 at quarter time in the windy conditions, and then 29-21 at half time. Borders made their move […]
