What a huge four days of Carnival fun, food and bowling as we held our annual Australia Day weekend Four Day Tournament. The rain and thunderstorms threatened to ruin Thursday 25th January the first day of the competition. This day was any Combination Triples and apart from one break for rain play, play kept going.

A local member of parliament has called on the government to consider a high-speed rail network between Adelaide and Melbourne, going through the Limestone Coast region. Member of Mackillop Nick McBride says he’s a big supporter of high-speed rail and believes this will revolutionise transport between Adelaide and Melbourne, with “bigtime benefits” for the region.

This was the message delivered by James Darling AM, a South Australian conversationalist who was the guest speaker at Australia Day celebrations at the Naracoorte Town Square.
In a thought-provoking message, Mr Darling said we must continue to give a fair go to all, irrespective of backgrounds, culture, or creed.

For a World Heritage Site I found on a recent visit to the caves that the service by Rangers was exceptional but the offering for wheelchair users was very poor. Has anyone recently reviewed the wheelchair accessible display (which a visitor pays for) with their very dated “touch screens” at the end of the display.

A REGIONAL CFS Breathing Apparatus training day will go ahead in May despite a $500,000 Christmas Day fire which destroyed the Regional Training Centre, at Menhennits Road, Wild Dog Valley. Fire investigators attended the site the day after Christmas. Region 5 CFS Regional operations manager Danny Crozier said the fire was deemed “not suspicious.”

In the first round of the ladies pairs, Judy Bermingham and Helen Dawson def Bronwyn Matthews and Judy Phillips after Bronwyn and Judy led until the 11th end where the score was even, then Judy and Helen won the last end to win 17-14.
