A new State Government-funded initiative will support the Limestone Coast timber and forestry sectors to address current skill gap shortages and develop the ‘workforce of the future’. Minister for Education, Skills & Training Blair Boyer officially opened the Mount Gambier Skills Centre this week, which will have a specific focus on timber and forestry, with an accompanying field based role working directly with industry.

With the current Egypt-Israel crisis in the Sinai Peninsula, it was interesting to learn that local Jo Callaghan was over there 21 years ago in a peace monitoring role. Jo recently spoke to Naracoorte Men’s Probus members of her army career and time in the Middle-East.

The grounds at Memorial oval could not escape from the damage Friday’s storm caused in Naracoorte. A limb broke off the gum tree on the visitors side of the ground and caused damage to the fence.

The AGM was held on 10th November at the clubrooms. Very few members attended so this made the meeting brief. There were a few changes in the committee positions. Fay Schinckel is the President, Di Arnold is secretary/treasurer and Pat Carrick will be the booking officer.

Our Midweek Pennant team travelled to Goroke this week to play Edenhope/Goroke. Team 1 won 27-8 and team 2 scored 21 to Goroke 27 . Overall Serviceton won by13 shots. Saturday 25th November we held our annual Maidrill sponsored day. President Rick Miles welcomed everyone including visitor Stephen McPhee.

The wild weather of last weekend meant the entire round of Millicent and Naracoorte Cricket Association matches were washed out. Most grounds were too wet for play, and it was decided to call off the whole round as a result.
