Three submissions only
By Nasik Swami: Is the community truly engaged in council matters? It is a tough question, but one might assume so. The Naracoorte Lucindale Council initiated its legislated review of the representation structure in October 2024. By November, it had given in-principle support to maintaining the existing setup of a mayor, 10 councillors, and no […] To access this post, you must purchase MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION, THE LAST ISSUE or ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION.

Lithium battery storage parks
Your Say: Heather Heggie, Naracoorte
I don’t need to remind people how valuable the South East of SA farmland is as it continues to feed thousands and thousands of people. Warm woollen army uniforms and blankets made from merino wool have also protected the democratic freedoms we all enjoy today.

Promises and performance: Flood mitigation
Your Say: Ian Harry, Naracoorte
After reading Councillor Grundy’s reported statement (front page of your publication, issue 180) that “the council administration does not have an engineering report that mitigates the risk of flooding in the township”, I did some research on the internet and discovered the following: “Naracoorte Drainage Study Stage 3” of September 2006, 35 pages, including a proposed drainage Master Study discussing all catchment areas and (in Section 6) Works Priorities and Costing. Compiled for the Council by Tonkin Engineering.”

Your Say: Ken Grundy, Naracoorte
The Albanese Government has played the three card trick over immigration reduction. First they increased the intake to record numbers and then offer a reduction leaving the intake well above what most people realise could be accommodated.

Sunrise Christian School
Sunrise Christian School marked the conclusion of a fruitful academic year with its annual school musical. Taking a nostalgic journey back to the 1970s, the celebration commenced with an entertaining pre-show featuring a fashion parade and a synchronised swimming act. Titled ‘Tell Me the Truth,’ the musical centred around a TV game show that illuminated the truths about historical biblical figures and their collective role in revealing Jesus to the world.

Meeting Procedure
The radio announcement that Council would not purchase the ANZ Bank site was appropriate wording for a news item but the actual resolution at the Council meeting was probably worded differently. Councils or any Committee are to decide things in positive terms.

Silly season
Your Say: John Randell
I know that Christmas time can be classed as the silly season, but surely Naracoorte Lucindale Council must win the Gold Logie? In the week leading up to Christmas I witnessed a full road building crew rebuild the 100 metres of Schinckel Road that runs east of Cedar Avenue.
