Seniors can defer rates
By Chris Oldfield COUNCIL rates can be deferred by anyone who holds a Seniors Card, or who is eligible and has applied for one. The deferred part payment can only apply to rates on the person’s principal place of residence, which must be owned by them and or a spouse, with no outside investors involved, such as their children. Other conditions considered include things like a mortgage and the size of that debt. While a minimal amount must be paid to the council, the deferred amount is subject to a monthly interest charge which accrues year after year. The interest rate is set annually and in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). It is a timely reminder that if your child is unwell then they must stay at home until symptom free. This term we have welcomed the following new students; Praise Cosmos, Treasure Cosmos, Karle Golimlim, Hunter Crozier and Kunashe Matongera. We hope you and your families enjoy your time at NPS. Last Wednesday, a parent workshop was held with Lucy Possingham, Mandy Fox and Madeline Moss, with support from teachers from ‘The Garden’, presenting information about ‘Teaching your child to read’. The crowd in attendance were provided with information and strategies by a truly amazing, passionate team. Naracoorte Branch of Cancer Council SA
By Chris Gale The Naracoorte Branch of Cancer Council SA are a very passionate group who work together to raise much needed funds for Cancer Council SA. The funds raised go to CCSA and is distributed towards cancer research, prevention and support services along with supportive accommodation for regional and remote South Australians. CCSA is South Australia’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer. Here in SA they support families affected by cancer when they need it most, they speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, find new ways to better detect and treat cancer. Funds raised have enabled a new integrated cancer building furnished with all the comforts of home and expertly chosen equipment. Borders eye premiership
Border Districts once again underlined their premiership credentials for the 2023 KNTFL A grade season with a convincing win over another top contender last Saturday. Playing against fellow top 5 side Naracoorte at Naracoorte’s home ground, Borders raced out of the blocks to have a hold on the game at quarter time. They led 44-7 at quarter time, and built on that lead for the next two quarters before Naracoorte won the last quarter narrowly to go down 17.16 to 10.5. Borders’ former league medallist Mark Quinn was in top form again and was BOG, Zac Richards continued his excellent season and Mackenzie Bower kicked 6 important goals. Naracoorte was well served by Nathan Davey and Keenan Jacobs, and Rory Taggert kicked 3 goals.
