By Angie Burzacott Tuesday June 6th, Lochaber WAB Members gathered at Lochaber Hall. Following a most enjoyable 2021/2022 year the meeting was called to close business for the 2022/2023 Year. All Office Bearers vacated their positions. The Annual General Meeting then proceeded.  CHAIR PERSON – Chris Thornton SECRETARY – Lyn Bellman Lochaber WAB are a small group of members and at times these positions take some time with care to fill. As numbers have dropped, we opened a discussion about how we all enjoy the friendships, sharing different activities we know that to see this Branch fold, is not an option! Knowing how full everyone’s lives are, the suggestion was put forward, that all of us “share the load”. No one is expected to do it all. Shitbox Golf Challenge

By Erin Mcwaters The Shitbox Rally Spring 2023 team of Shannon and Erin, along with the talented Lucindale Country Club catering crew hosted the Lucindale Survivors Shitbox Golf Challenge on Sunday, June 11 th , and “Sherlee the Shitbox” turned up with the perfect weather in the boot! The Shitbox Rally participants raise awareness and funds for the much-needed Cancer Council, and to even get off the start line, all 250 teams need to raise a minimum of $5k to start the Rally, in a car worth less than $1,500, which leaves Port Douglas in October bound for Adelaide via Birdsville. The aim of the day was to fundraise, however a lot of fun was had by the 19 teams entered, including teeing off on the 1 st off of a tyre, navigating through obstacles on multiple greens, nearest to pins, nearest to rope and longest drive and a $5 […]

By Coonawarra Vignerons The Coonawarra Wine industry, together with other representatives from the Limestone Coast Wine Region, have gathered to undertake a ‘post vintage tasting’ of over 100 wines from the 2023 Vintage. Wine bottles lined the tables of the Coonawarra Hall on Wednesday 7th June, as winemakers and production staff alike, revealed their offerings in an opportunity to gain a view of the 2023 vintage from across the region. Bruce Gregory, Senior Winemaker for Majella Wines, has been involved with hosting the Post Vintage tasting for quite a few years, and was very impressed with the samples that had been submitted for tasting from producers across the region. “There is no shortage of variety in the bottles presented, from light whites to robust reds. McGrath Breast Care Nurse bolsters support for breast cancer patients in the Upper South-East

By McGrath Foundation Families impacted by breast cancer in the Upper South-East of South Australia will receive a huge boost in support, with the addition of a new McGrath Breast Care Nurse to the area. With 57 people diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia there is an increasing need for specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses to support those impacted by the disease. McGrath Breast Care Nurses provide important physical, psychosocial and emotional support to local families experiencing breast cancer, from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment. Research by the McGrath Foundation shows early access to a McGrath Breast Care Nurse improves both the outcomes and experience of a person with breast cancer.
