Tatiara at Padthaway next week

Tatiara at Padthaway next week

By Chris Oldfield The community spirit of Tatiara District Council will be on show once again when it meets at Padthaway for its August 8 meeting. Traditionally, Tatiara meets at least once a year at Padthaway and once at Keith. Our cardio Phil dies

Our cardio Phil dies

By Chris Oldfield AFTER saving hundreds of lives in our district, and throughout South Australia, leading cardiologist Dr Phil Tideman OA, has died as a result of bowel cancer, aged 64. Telstra signs up with Starlink

Telstra signs up with Starlink

By Chris Oldfield TELSTRA’s new deal with Starlink will help provide a fixed voice service to rural and remote customers, but it won’t improve the poor mobile phone coverage in areas of the South East. Telstra announced its new deal with Starlink via a press release dated July 3. Responding to questions from The News, Telstra SA Regional General Manager Michael Patterson said Telstra was working with Starlink “to be the first provider in the world to re-sell both consumer and business Starlink broadband plans that includes a voice service. “The product will help us serve customers that today have limited options for a fixed service,” Mr Patterson said. “Our new agreement with Starlink will provide fixed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet and voice access to homes and small businesses anywhere across Australia, with availability prioritising remote and rural Telstra customers at first. “This service does not provide satellite […]

Balharry Memorial Kindergarten

Balharry Memorial Kindergarten

By Rachel Savage Balharry Memorial Kindergarten and Rural Care are raising money to upgrade our outdoor play space. Our centre, based in Lucindale, is a combined Rural Care and Kindergarten caring for children from birth to 12 years. It can be difficult to design spaces that cater for the range of ages that use our centre. Our new play space will include a fort, bridge and tunnel allowing for a range of different experiences. We are working hard to raise $30000 to complete this project. Thank you to the Naracoorte News for their contribution of $500 which will be put towards this project! Editor’s Note: With this Give Back donation of $500 we have reached $100,799 donated to local service, arts and sports groups. Please register anytime by emailing news@naracoortenews.com.
