Judging for the highly anticipated event will return to Terra Rossa territory at the Coonawarra Hall from Monday, October 16, with previous LCWS panel chair Philip Rich set to take over from Tasmanian winemaker Sam Connew as chief of judges. Philip brings more than 25 years of experience as a passionate retailer, educator, wine show judge and wine writer. By Tim Delaney, MLA Cattle: LWB 34 – LWY 303 – LWC 93 – OAY 35 Cattle numbers increased to 463 which was up 49 head on last week. Quality was mixed from very good pens of younger and grown cattle don to plainer secondary types in the Winter market. Heavy to medium weight cows were also offered and more bulls came forward. A smaller field of  buyers attended and there was less competition coming from the gallery. There was also some feeder and restocker interest at times. Younger and the grown cattle in the trade run sold from mainly from unchanged to 10c weaker and up to 15c/kg back in places. However a sale of outstanding yearling steers sold to 365c and yearling heifers reached 352c/kg. Heavy  cows sold to softer demand selling 4c to 10c/kg cheaper. Naracoorte Golf Club Ladies results: 2nd August 2023

By Sally MacLeod The Avenue Inn kindly sponsored last Wednesday’s 5 th Monthly Medal, NGC Spoons and Veteran’s Trophy competition. The vouchers were very generous and we thank them for their continuing support of our ladies competition. The course is looking fabulous and the weather was stunning so there were no excuses for poor golf!  We welcomed visitors from Waikerie, McLaren Vale, and Royal Sydney Golf Clubs who helped make up the field of 21. The A grade winner was Sally Macleod with a nett 75, who played with the runner up, Pam Hood, who had a nett 76. The B grade winner, Monthly Medal winner and Veterans trophy winner was Sylvia Adams with a nett 71 on a count back from Chris McDonald.  Chris McDonald, with 30 putts, did very well to win the putting competition which is sponsored by Jan O’Shaughnessy.  Jan has sponsored the putting competition for […]
