In very warm conditions on Sunday 11th. Feb the ladies started their Bordertown championship singles. The first round saw B. Pepper d. G. Tink 21-8; J. Vanderhorst d. J. Tink 21-19 J. Lack f. J. Marshall, J. Wiese f. K. Creaser. Second round B. Pepper d. J. Marshall 23-3, J. Vanderhorst won on a forfeit after playing 23 ends against K. Creaser 19-15.

Numbers fell by almost half as agents yarded 966 head of liveweight and open auction cattle. These sold to another large field of trade and processor buyers with some of these not active over the offering as both feeders and restocked orders operated throughout the pens.

I enjoyed Cr Grundy’s good old fashioned rant about how ‘power prices are ruining local businesses’. (Apparently farmers can’t afford to turn on their irrigation pumps) Most of what he says are worn out rumours that could have come from a Liberal party songbook of 15 years ago.
