Labor complacent as road toll rises

Labor complacent as road toll rises

Your Say: Charlotte Edmunds, Office of Tony Pasin MP. Assistant Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport and Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP, says the Labor Government’s 90-day infrastructure review is delaying important road safety upgrades as the national road network falls into disrepair with billions of dollars in funding cuts and delays. “The Coalition Government set us on a trajectory of increased investment into road infrastructure, building what was needed for the safe and productive movement of goods and to ensure people get home to their loved ones.” “Not only has the Labor Government disrupted this trajectory, they’ve put the productivity of our road network on pause while we watch the road toll rise and our freight operators struggle with increased input costs. Labor’s infrastructure review is one we didn’t need and in truth, one we can’t afford,” Mr Pasin said. Mr Pasin said the road toll is unacceptably […]

KNTNA Junior Semi Final results

By Georgia Gill. Second Semi Final: Saturday 2nd September 2023: Div 1 – Penola 49 d Kingston 41. The two in form sides of the Division One competition delivered the high quality game that everyone thought they would with Penola taking a slight lead at quarter time. Incredibly accurate shooting from Lythgo saw this lead extend to six at half time. Pink was crucial for her side as they continued to fight in the second half, but Penola maintained their composure as they pushed the difference out to nine at three quarter time. Despite Kingston winning the final quarter, it was not enough to stop Penola as they finished winners by eight goals, 49 to 41, booking their spot in the Grand Final. Div 2 – Border Districts 49 d Naracoorte 30. With Naracoorte delivering Borders their only loss for the season, the Div 2 game started as evenly as […]

It’s bureaucratic, says MP

It’s bureaucratic, says MP

By Nasik Swami. Member for MacKillop Nick McBride says he does not support the Australian Indigenous Voice referendum. Mr McBride said the referendum was bureaucratic and would fail to deliver tangible outcomes for the indigenous people. While he welcomed the intent of the Bill currently before the South Australian Parliament, which will create an Indigenous Voice, he expressed some reservations. “In itself, the First Nations Voice Bill creates its own layers of bureaucracy. It is difficult to see how this process will work with or complement the range of work and mandates of a range of existing First Nations bodies, which are preserved under clause 7 of the bill,” he said. “This model has been layered over the top of numerous existing advisory bodies, structures, and advocacy groups, which I am told number more than 190. “The bill itself establishes layers of local and state bodies and at least four […]

Lucindale Ladies Golf: 30th August 2023

By Rosie Legoe. Fine weather prevailed for the 18 golf ladies who played the 3 rd & final round of Bricey’s SE Collision Repairs Par competition. The members of our club would like to thank Leon for his continued loyal support of the Lucindale Country Club, we’re all very grateful. It was also the final round of the Olympic Golf Game which was instigated this year after an enterprising member’s suggestion. The best score from one of the rounds in each event is accumulated to discern the Olympic Gold & Silver winners. We were thrilled to see Annie Haynes back at the club after her various flights overseas & the Kimberley area. We were also thrilled to welcome Daniel Flint from Wangolina who offered a […]
