Last year, on September 28, you had the opportunity to “meet the candidates” for the Naracoorte Lucindale Council Elections at the Town Hall. When nominations closed at noon on September 6, 2022, the council had received two nominations for the position of mayor and 16 nominations for the 10 councillor positions.

Round 9 of pennants for Naracoorte RSL was played last weekend. The ladies played at Beachport on Friday for a nice win by both rinks. Lindy Mark, Josie Mark, Josie McGrath and Helen Brody dominated from the second end to have a great win with 33 shots to 8 against Pam Hales.

Robe travelled to Millicent for midweek pennant coming away with a narrow loss. Millicent 44 shots 6 pts def Robe 40-2. Josh Waddell, Pam Robinson, Jim Gray and Stephen Farrell never headed Sarah Ross’s team losing 23-17. Paul Truelove, Errol Jennings, Dean Burgoyne and David Robinson had a slow start but edged in front on the 19th end and managed to stay there to defeat Derk Pietersma’s team 21-23.

Although the ‘Voice to Parliament’ is now history and should be forgotten as the result was the majority noted no. Mr Albanese’s grasp for power was all for nothing. I thought I should reply to Cliff Hignet’s letter where he accused me of being a one-eyed supporter of the Liberal party and was influenced by Peter Dutton’s call for a No vote.

Last Monday seven ladies competed in the 100 up singles event, in the first round D. Frith defeated C. Fox, C. Healy defeated M. Bull, L. Williams defeated D. Arnold, P. May had the bye. The second round D. Frith went down to P. May, and C. Healy defeated L. Williams.

Monday Midweek Pennant gave us a break with a BYE this week. Sunday a team traveled to Lucindale. Tuesday a team enjoyed Mundulla’s hospitality playing Progressive Fours. Saturday 2nd December we finalised our Mixed 100 Up Competition and Congratulations to Jeff Palmer the winner.

St Johns Lutheran Church are grateful for The News Gives Back offer and it couldn’t have come at a better time as we are currently upgrading the entrance to the church. A new acoustic ceiling, new carpet, notice boards, paint and an art piece created and crafted by Erol Schenscher now takes pride of place at our entrance.

What a busy start to Term 4! The Year 5 and Year 1 camps were both a huge success. Year 5 students enjoyed a wonderful night sleeping at Monarto Zoo and then onto Adelaide for a second night.
