The wild weather of last weekend meant the entire round of Millicent and Naracoorte Cricket Association matches were washed out. Most grounds were too wet for play, and it was decided to call off the whole round as a result.

Friday’s freak rainstorm forced the abandonment of the Naracoorte Racing Club’s planned twilight meeting. The club’s next meeting is on Friday, December 29, when club officials hope a bumper crowd will turnout in what is odds on to be much better conditions. The club will provide more details about next month’s meeting in coming weeks.

The Border Districts community are grateful for the generosity of the News Gives Back program in donating $500 which will be used to help fund a new digital electric convection oven. The new oven will replace the existing gas oven which has safety issues.

Lucindale police officer Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig, who was killed during a shooting incident at Senior, has been described as a “perfect small town country copper”. Naracoorte-Lucindale mayor Patrick Ross said all Sgt Doig ever wanted from his role in the community was for everybody to get home safely.

A winner for former jockey-turned-trainer Louise Cooper was a highlight of the Naracoorte Racing Club recent meeting – and a potential turning point for the club’s disability access. Bordertown Ladies played their Championship Triples in early November in good conditions with 4 teams on the greens. It was great to see most of our Ladies playing. Playing Round Robin there were some very good bowls being played by all teams. Winners were Jenny Marshall, June Tink and Belinda Pepper (sk).

Lucindale continued their strong season in Millicent and District Cricket association last Saturday. Lucindale hosted a big celebrity cricket match on Friday night against an Adelaide Crows representative side, on a night full of emotion after the tragic events of the night before.

Last Saturday saw the 4th round of the U14 Hall trophy commence. This week’s opponents for the Penola/Naracoorte U14’s were Mil Lel, being played at their home ground Frew Park. The sky was cloudy, a light drizzle was around, and both teams were ready for a good game.
