Tuesday 22nd February the Club held their Ladies Invitation Fours Tournament, we had twelve teams visiting from various areas of the lower and upper south east as well as Victoria. One game of fourteen ends was played before lunch and two games of ten ends before afternoon tea.

Thursday’s warm weather was better spent inside with air conditioners at the Bowls club for 26 women. Instruction started at 9am for a few women who are learning how the Duplimate Machine works in dealing the cards into the playable boards, then on to setting up the bridge competition on the computer.

Naracoorte RSL ladies finished on top of the ladder for the minor rounds of pennant and earned the right to host the semi-finals at home. They played their game against Lucindale and won, securing a spot in the Grand Final. Robyn Hansen, Linda Prentice, Helen Brody and Sandra Green played against Marg Fallon’s rink and won 27 shots to 12.

Congratulations to Kaniva 2023/4 winning the Grosser Shield. The last of the four rounds was played at Serviceton on Wednesday 21st February at Serviceton.  Serviceton Night Social Bowls is progressing well with a lot of fun on and off the green. The huge suppers and after game competitions complete the nights.

Midweek pennant Robe travelled to Millicent Wednesday and although the greens were running beautifully the results were not what Robe were hoping for. Millicent Blue 55 shots 8 pts def Robe 41-0. Jim Gray, Pam Robinson, Dean Burgoyne and Stephen Kennett led until the 11th end but then Heather Carthew’s team hit the front and gradually increased their lead to win 28-18.

Kyby met South Gambier at Naracoorte Footy Club for another warm one and kicking into a slight breeze in the first quarter was essential in creating a strong start. The on-ball brigade didn’t disappoint, giving the Kyby forwards some early chances at goal. Jamie Wachtel’s ruck work gave Dellie Brown, Jedah Huf and Kate Edmonds plenty of possessions.

Millicent and Rendelsham will now play in this Saturday’s grand final after they had big wins in last weekend’s semi-finals over Lucindale and Naracoorte Warriors respectively.
