Keith Tennis Club

Keith Tennis Club

By Rochelle Schenscher It’s not everyday you get to meet a sporting icon but these lucky girls from The Keith Tennis Club got that chance.  During the Adelaide International in January clubs were invited to participate in a Red ball challenge. Over 100 kids aged 5-8yrs participated, teams of four played 10 minute half court matches. The kids then had the opportunity to have a hit with some tennis players including grand slam champion Petra Kvitova and Aussie John Peers. It was a fantastic programme and a privilege to be able to be a part of the day. The Keith tennis club play Friday nights under lights. We have had a great season so far with the weather being kind to us. We have over 40 members of the club with lots of new faces having signed up this season. Naracoorte Motorcycle Club

Naracoorte Motorcycle Club

By Brenan Voss The Naracoorte Motorcycle club is a family orientated club that caters for all levels of riding ability. Our specialty is being family and fun orientated with regular ‘scrub ride days’ often held throughout the year at various locations throughout the Limestone Coast, and when the weather allows our track days at our main facility on Gum Point Road just south of Naracoorte.  The Main Track facility is easily accessible by our members to come and ride when they choose where they can ride as much or as little as they like. This flexibility would be one of very few across Australia and is once again what makes us such a unique club.   We are a non-for-profit club and therefore we rely on membership and sponsorship money to fund the development of facilities and the track maintenance. There are current plans in place to perform a major upgrade […]

Naracoorte Branch of Embroiderers’ Guild of SA

Naracoorte Branch of Embroiderers’ Guild of SA

By Kaye Beauchamp The Naracoorte Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild was very grateful to receive your previous donation. The money was put towards subsidising the costs of bringing a Guild tutor to run a workshop for our members in November. Carol Mullan was the tutor, and she taught “Counted Sashiko”. This is a technique which uses very simple stitches, but the patterns created can be quite complex. Another workshop is planned for March this year, to learn a different embroidery technique. In June last year our branch celebrated its 40th birthday, with a lunch for current and past members. We also invited members of the Executive Committee from Adelaide and members from Mt. Gambier branch to help us celebrate. Our group meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the Old Schoolroom behind the Sheep’s Back Museum, starting at 9.30 am. The first meeting this year will be held […]

Naracoorte Mothers Group

Naracoorte Mothers Group

By Jo Vine The Naracoorte Mothers Groups were set up with the aim of connecting local Mum’s who missed out on having their very own mothers group during the last 3-4 COVID years, when such groups were cancelled. We have had over 70 registrants and will run 6 groups in total. So many people stay connected throughout life with other parents and children they’ve met through their mothers groups and with all the isolation which occurred during COVID, we wanted to make sure everyone had the chance to have their own Mothers Group, even if their children were no longer babies. The response to the groups has been overwhelming and many stories have been shared and new connections made with such fun along the way. The Groups have been supported by both the SACWA who have allowed us to use their rooms and provided volunteers, as well as the Naracoorte […]
