KNTNA Grand Final match reports

By Sally Bywater. A Grade: Penola 51 d Keith 28. Penola were off to a flying start, capitalising on many turnovers. Their defensive pressure was too strong for Keith. The second quarter provided some good contests with Sophie Makin (Keith) getting turnovers and Mary Wachtel (Keith) held her ground. Penola’s pressure was too strong and […]

Division 1: Kingston 42 d Penola 38. Having earnt themselves the week off, Penola faced minor premiers Kingston with the latter taking a one goal lead into the first break. The two sides put on a brilliant display of fast paced netball over the next two quarters with the margin still just […]

KNTFL 2023 Reserves Grand Final: Mundulla v Keith

By Barb Altus. In front of a very large crowd the first quarter was closely contested and low-scoring. Mundulla scored a point first, and Keith replied in kind, then Henry McMurray directed the ball to Dylan Qualmann who soccered the ball accurately to score the first goal of the match, and the Crows attacked again quickly but another behind resulted. Callum McMurray, Wilsdon, Mitchell and Ryan were prominent for Keith and Halliday, Weatherald and the speedy Scown were working hard for the Tigers who attacked repeatedly but only scored three behinds before the Crows also registered another behind, then the Moots’ Pickering, Packer and Daniel Burgess drove the ball to Billy Wiese who kicked truly, and at quarter-time Mundulla led by the smallest possible margin: 1-4-10 to 1-3-9. There was even less scoring in the dour, tight struggle of the second term, with three points to the Tigers followed by […]

Top Mark: a lifetime of partnership

Top Mark: a lifetime of partnership

By Michael Waite, Founder/Volunteer, Naracoorte News. THANK YOU team Top Mark!  On behalf of The News team we want to express our gratitude to Trevor and Gail Pfeiffer and the entire Top Mark team for their advertising in The News.  Top Mark has adorned a page in The News every week since we asked for their support of our new community newspaper.  Literally we asked them in time for edition #2 on 13 May 2020 and they have supported your local paper – essentially helped ensure its survival – every edition since, up to and including today’s feature in issue 167. My friendship with Trevor and Gail’s late son Daniel was an incredibly special one. Daniel and I grew up going to Naracoorte Primary, riding bikes, playing hockey, and having a whole lot of fun together.  There was already so much emotion tied up in the launch of The News, […]

Owners call it a day

Owners call it a day

It’s not easy to let go of something that you have built from strength to strength. Letting go can be hard because it means letting go of aspects of your past—aspects of you. And it gets even worse when it’s something you’ve helped build for 26 years. This stands very true for one of Naracoorte’s […]
