Mayor warns councillors

Mayor warns councillors

MAYOR Patrick Ross has told his elected members there is “no such thing as a personal opinion, you will always be quoted as a councillor”. Mr Ross made the comment as part of his mayoral communication at Naracoorte Lucindale Council’s August 22 meeting in Frances. Referring to a confidential meeting for councillors which was held on July 24, Mr Ross said he attended an elected member training session by Kelledy Jones. He described it as a very interesting evening which centred around behaviour and meeting procedure. “We have come a long way and there is still much work to be done on the way we all interact with each other, and the need for respect to be demonstrated in our lives,” he said. “I am incredibly pleased with the relationship the elected members in general have with the administration and the outside staff. “I will not tolerate council members crossing […]

Footy report

Footy report

Border Districts are celebrating a drought-breaking premiership victory after winning their first ever KNTFL A grade football grand final on Saturday. In fantastic sunny conditions in front of a massive crowd at the Naracoorte oval, Borders took on Kingston, who also had never won a KNTFL grand final. The previous premierships for the two clubs were both in the former KNFL league, with Borders last winning it in 1991, and Kingston way back in 1984. Borders came into the game as narrow favourites, having qualified for the grand final first by winning the second semi-final, but Kingston had won their way through by coming from fifth place and winning three finals, so had plenty of momentum. Kingston had the better of the play in the first quarter of the grand final, leading 21-12 at quarter time in the windy conditions, and then 29-21 at half time. Borders made their move […]
