Lucindale Ladies Golf: Store 21 Secret Partners and Wendy Wilson Trophy

Lucindale Ladies Golf: Store 21 Secret Partners and Wendy Wilson Trophy

By Dusty Clubs.
Wednesday, 27 September, 18 golfers played Stableford sponsored by Store 21, Naracoorte. There was something different out on course, it wasn’t bad like mozzies or pollen, ball stealing crows, or golfer bombing magpies.  In the Clubhouse, after play, Golfers were all smiling, nearly singing, and handicaps were shaken down like sand easily […]

Drug bust

Drug bust

By Nasik Swami. Could a recent drug bust in Naracoorte be just the tip of the iceberg? In a shocking find, police discovered an undisclosed quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at a property in Naracoorte on September 8. Confirming this, South Australia Police said two people from the address, a 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were arrested and have been charged with trafficking in a controlled drug. The duo is due to appear at the Naracoorte Magistrates Court on November 15. “About 4pm on Friday, September 8, following an investigation, police attended and searched an address in Naracoorte,” SAPOL said. This newspaper sent questions to the SAPOL in a bid to find out what this discovery meant for the district and the presence of hard drugs in the area. We asked: What does this discovery mean or show about the presence of illicit drugs in the community? How […]

Voice referendum

Voice referendum

Your Say: Ken Banning. The PM is asking Australians to vote for the VOICE as a concept, its functions and powers will be determined by the Labour party, the Greens and indigenous activists after the referendum. Very much like signing a blank cheque. Our PM has promised to deliver the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full numerous times. He claims it is only one page. The Uluru statement from the Heart as obtained under the Freedom of information act (FOI/2223/016) from the National Indigenous Australians Agency is 112 pages, the section titled Uluru Statement From The Heart (Uluru) is 26 pages. The PM has made it very clear that the reason for legislating the voice in the Constitution is that it will force Government and Govt departments to consult and LISTEN to the views of the VOICE. What happens if Govt makes a decision that is contrary to the […]

Land rights

Your say: Philip Cornish, Bordertown . There is much debate in recent times about who owns the land and who has the rights to it. Many of us have had the opportunity to buy and own our own land or property, but is it really ours? In the Bible, the book of Psalms chapter 89 says “The heavens are yours, the world and everything in it, for you created them all.” Actually, anyone who creates anything has the right to claim ownership, and so with this earth, none of us has had anything to do with its beginning, but the lord God does, so it is rightfully his. In reality we are only caretakers of what we have the privilege of living on or using for making a living. So who has the rights to claim ownership in the first place? In the book of Acts we read ” God who […]

We are one

Your Say: Name supplied but withheld by request. As an Australian we have an amazing mixed heritage culture, and whether you’re First Nation, displaced convict or a more recent Australian there is one thing that resonates in all of us: we are one. The notion of allowing segregation to be written back into our constitution is a step backwards. Drawing a line in the sand between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the rest of us in parliament is apartheid at its finest. There was a comment recently in your paper about mining and the voice to parliament. Mining pays $390 million to the Aboriginal industry yearly, combined with the $40 billion from Federal Government. That is a fair amount of money for 3% of the population that is not trickling down to the grassroots people in desperate need. The people who are supposed to look after them and […]

Crime wave

Crime wave

By Chris Oldfield
IN the shadow of darkness, sometimes thieves are lurking down side streets, back roads and farm paddocks, checking for unlocked cars, sheds, houses and gates to steal whatever they can. “It is a sign of the times, driven by the high cost of living as a result of high electricity prices,” according […]
