Organisers hope a successful late December meeting has whet local appetites for the 2024 MiniJumbuk Naracoorte Cup next month. Breaking a recent run of back luck, the Naracoorte Racing Club’s December 29 meeting was held in ideal weather conditions, and president Glen Hamlyn said the 250-strong crowd enjoyed the day.

Millicent and Naracoorte Cricket Association senior teams returned to the field after their Christmas break last Saturday. Lucindale continued to perform strongly in this bounce-back season after a poor 2022-23, this time defeating local rivals Naracoorte Townies convincingly. Townies won the toss and batted first in the game at Lucindale, but struggled throughout.

Naracoorte RSL and District Bowling Club held their Caveland Christmas Carnival between Christmas and New Year. Players from Clare, Kapunda, Karoonda, Katandra West, Millicent, Morphett Vale, Mt Gambier, Mt Gambier RSL, Mt Xavier, Murray Bridge RSL, Nelson Bay, Padthaway, Parilla, Port MacDonnell, Robe and Naracoorte RSL competed over 2 days in pairs and triples competitions.

Some ad hoc weed spraying around Naracoorte is being investigated by the Naracoorte Lucindale Council. During Naracoorte’s peak tourist season some high traffic areas have been maimed with strips of poisoned lawn and areas with blotchy sprayed patches.
