Agri Finance Specialists in Naracoorte

Agri Finance Specialists in Naracoorte

By Farm Finance Co The farming game has probably been the most exciting game to be in of late. The past few years have presented a lot of opportunities; low interest rates coupled with strong commodity prices has enticed many to make the move home and complete their succession planning, provided a perfect ground to expand, and allow businesses to improve farm management practices internally. Working as both finance brokers and farmers ourselves, we closely monitor the current market. We hear weekly livestock prices being released and convert that into a $/head value and ponder what turnover is going to look like for our clients. Like many, we are shocked about how quickly things have turned. The ongoing increase in expenses has meant our clients are now taking a stricter view on all expenditure. Direct enterprise costs, overheads and finance costs should all be up for review as businesses complete […]

100% mobile coverage in 2 years

100% mobile coverage in 2 years

By Chris Oldfield ACROSS the Limestone Coast and throughout Australia, Optus and SpaceX plan to provide 100 per cent mobile coverage by the end of 2025. The deal means an Optus customer should be able to connect to Starlink’s satellites to get mobile service if an Optus network is not available. It also means Crs Cameron Grundy, Darren Turner, Crash Downward, Abigail Goodman, Trevor Rayner and Peter Ireland may feel vindicated. Twice they rejected Telstra’s calls for ratepayer cash to help build 27 mobile towers in the Limestone Coast – including three in the Naracoorte Lucindale Council district – each costing $1.5 million. It’s called the Limestone Coast Connectivity project. At the council’s May meeting a block of four councillors were in favour of handing over the ratepayer funds – around $140,000. Cr Tom Dennis moved for the matter to be discussed in confidence and Cr Damien Ross seconded it. […]

KNTNA junior report – Round 15

By Georgia Gill In Focus – Division Three Fifth placed Border Districts hosted fourth placed Lucindale and after an incredibly even first half the two sides could not be split sitting on 17 goals apiece. Led by Mahney and Sambell in goals, Borders came out firing in the third term shooting 13 goals to four as they pushed out to a handy lead going into the last quarter. Another evenly contested quarter in the final term ensured the margin remained similar with Borders running away winners by 10 goals, 34 to 24. Despite the result, Penola remain in fourth spot on the ladder with Borders moving one win clear of sixth place Penola to stay in fifth. In the other game in Div 3, sixth placed Penola played third placed Bordertown with the latter getting the better start of the two sides to be up five at quarter time. Bordertown […]

KNTNA A Grade match reports

By Sally Bywater Keith v Kybybolite What a game! Kyby came to Keith and left nothing behind. A hard fought game to the final whistle. Kyby were one up at quarter time (15-14) then Keith flipped the lead to be one up at half time (31-30). An intense second half saw both sides continue to apply pressure down the whole court. Whitney Smith (Keith) and Gorgia Sealey (Kyby) had a close tussle in the midcourt, both contributing positively to their sides in attack and defence. Charlee Hodges’ (Kyby) precision passing into Chelsea Bull kept Keith’s ability to turnover the ball minimal. The game was close until the last 5 minutes, where Keith pulled away to finish with a 9 goal lead, 64-55. A highly contested game across the entire court for a full 60 minutes. Great game girls. Mundulla v Naracoorte In a fast paced game at Mundulla, Naracoorte took […]

Opinion: Bush Turkey

This week I want to focus on umpiring. I have watched a lot of AFL footy over the weekend, and I am not really all that happy about the standard of umpiring at the top level. I watched a local game on Saturday and after watching the same sport on Friday night I am really happy to keep going to my local footy every Saturday. I simply can’t believe with all the technology and whatever that is going on with the AFL, that they could mess up a couple of decisions in an important game so badly.  I was watching Collingwood V Geelong. Jeremy Cameron definitely did not mark that ball, it was over the boundary line. But the Boundary Empire was right there, so he was in the better position than me to judge that one. I will give you that one, but watching it back, it was definitely […]

Footy report

Naracoorte may have handed Keith the double chance in the race for the KNTFL A grade finals after a significant loss last Saturday. Sitting in third going into the game against second-place Mundulla, Naracoorte were no match for the northern Tigers and were thrashed by 10 goals, meaning they have been leapfrogged on the ladder by Keith.  Naracoorte trailed from the start and Mundulla only extended the margin the further the game went, with star forward James Hinge kicking six goals and young Harry Kuchel named best player. Zac Peake kicked three goals for Naracoorte and Nathan Davey was named best, but the Demons were well beaten.  Keith were challenged early by Kyby but pulled right away after half time to win by nearly 10 goals. Blake Read was again a star forward with five goals for the Crows, who moved into third place ahead of Naracoorte with the win.  […]
