KNTFL: A Grade Second Semi final 2 September 2023: Mundulla v Border District

By Barb Altus. In a match with many momentum changes Mundulla started fast but Border Districts were sharper and won by nineteen points to reach their first Grand Final since 1999. The Tigers’ Burgess and Dylan Mosey drove the ball into attack where Studham marked and kicked truly in the first minute, then McGrice passed to Studham who goaled again, before Hollams, Stephan, Grosser and Hinge again worked the ball forward where Studham registered his hat-trick in as many minutes. Borders attacked and recorded a two minor scores, then after a behind by the Moots, the Eagles’ Hausler and Hewson forced the ball forward where Quinn marked from the back of the pack and made no mistake. Mundulla replied when Redden, Ridgway and D Mosey drove the ball to Nick Mosey who kicked accurately, before Border Districts’ Schoenmakers and Pretlove immediately slammed the ball into attack where Rata kicked truly, […]

KNTFL: Reserves Second Semifinal 2 September 2023 – Mundulla v Kingston

By Barb Altus. Mundulla’s strong first quarter enabled them to hold on through Kingston’s fine second term and the low-scoring second half to book their place in the 2023 Grand Final. The Tigers dominated the scoring in the first term, attacking quickly with Packer and Scown featuring, and after a rushed behind Perry and Lowe drove the ball forward where Billy Wiese collected the loose ball on the run and made no mistake. The Moots’ next shot hit the post, then Jarred Wiese, Eamon Staude and Obst worked the ball to Packer who kicked truly, before Weatherald passed to Scown who handpassed to B Wiese who turned and goaled. The Saints recorded a minor score and Mundulla replied in kind before Scown, Obst and Dowling directed the ball to Packer who marked and goaled and at quarter-time the Tigers led 4-3-27 to 0-1-1. The seasiders lifted in the second term, […]

KNTFL: Senior Colts 2023 Second Semi final – 2 September 2023

By Barb Altus. Although Bordertown scored the first two goals and worked consistently hard all match, Naracoorte dominated the scoring to win their way into the 2023 Grand Final. The Roosters’ Will and Hampel drove the ball to Hayes who stretched to mark and kicked truly in the first minute, before Will, Pilgrim and Hampel worked the ball forward where Cornish won a free with a fine tackle and made no mistake. The Demons’ McMullan and Boston then forced the ball to Mitchell who kicked accurately, before Steadman’s shot hit the post. Climate Change

Climate Change

Your Say: Philip Cornish, Bordertown. It is so frustrating to see every time a natural disaster occurs somewhere in the world, that climate change activists jump on the bandwagon to claim more evidence of manmade climate change. To discover what really causes the climate to change, I want to refer to what the Bible reveals about the subject. It not only deals with spiritual matters of life, but reveals so much truth about the world we live in and the heavens above. For example, the Greeks were the first to suggest a round earth. The Romans denied it and drew the earth as a flat disk. Yet centuries before the Greeks, the book of Job (the oldest book in the Bible), suggested a round earth. So also did Isaiah, who refers to “the circle of the earth”. For many centuries man believed the earth was the fixed centre of the […]

KNTFL: A Grade Second Semi final 2 September 2023: Mundulla v Border District

Footy report: Semi finals

Two teams who have never won a KNTFL A grade grand final are still left in the race of three with only two weeks of the season to go. Border Districts marched into their first A grade football grand final since 1999 with a resounding win in the second semi-final last Saturday. Despite the odds being against them, playing against a well-rested Mundulla who had the previous week off and were playing on their home ground, Borders didn’t take a backward step and were too good on the day. Mundulla will now play Kingston in the preliminary final, after Kingston defeated Keith in the first semi-final at Padthaway on Sunday. Borders and Kingston have both not won an A grade premiership since the formation of the KNTFL in 1993. In the second semi, the game started out evenly with Mundulla having a one-goal lead at quarter time, before Borders took […]

KNTFL: Junior Colts 2023 Second Semifinal – 2 September 2023

By Barb Altus. Although Keith contested hard throughout the match, Naracoorte dominated the scoring to win their way into the 2023 Grand Final. The Demons scored the first goal when duRand and Scott forced the ball forward and Roti snapped accurately, then Cox, Mitchell and duRand worked the ball to Taylor who kicked truly, before McCarthy directed the ball to Mitchell who made no mistake. The Crows were struggling to get the ball into their forward line, and after the Dees recorded a behind Manalastas, Coronel and duRand locked the ball in their forward line where Scott kicked truly before four more behinds ensued and at quarter-time Naracoorte led 4-5-29 to 0-0-0. After some positional changes the second term was more even. The Demons’ Coronel and Woolley worked the ball to Taylor who kicked accurately nine minutes in, before Keith’s Llewellyn drove the ball to Nutt who recorded the Crows’ […]

Labor complacent as road toll rises

Your Say: Charlotte Edmunds, Office of Tony Pasin MP. Assistant Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport and Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP, says the Labor Government’s 90-day infrastructure review is delaying important road safety upgrades as the national road network falls into disrepair with billions of dollars in funding cuts and delays. “The Coalition Government set us on a trajectory of increased investment into road infrastructure, building what was needed for the safe and productive movement of goods and to ensure people get home to their loved ones.” “Not only has the Labor Government disrupted this trajectory, they’ve put the productivity of our road network on pause while we watch the road toll rise and our freight operators struggle with increased input costs. Labor’s infrastructure review is one we didn’t need and in truth, one we can’t afford,” Mr Pasin said. Mr Pasin said the road toll is unacceptably […]

Opinion by Bush Turkey: The future of our clubs

With this local footy season nearly done, I’m going to share a quick opinion of my thoughts on where each of our 10 clubs is heading in the next few years. We don’t know yet where we will all be playing next year as the SANFL continues trying to please everyone in creating these new leagues. My tip is it will stay exactly as it currently is next year, and then some time after that the Mid SE and Western Border leagues will merge, and the KNTFL will keep going untouched. Regardless of where they play, these are my thoughts on the immediate future for our 10 current clubs. This year’s minor premiers Mundulla are like cockroaches – if there was a nuclear war, they would still come out happy and healthy and playing in the next year’s grand final. With a powerful senior list and some good juniors coming […]
