The Demons’ McMullan and Boston then forced the ball to Mitchell who kicked accurately, before Steadman’s shot hit the post. The Dees recorded four more behinds before Stewart passed to Steadman who kicked truly, then duRand and Clark drove the ball to Steadman who goaled again, before Maney, Taylor and Ebert again worked the ball to Steadman who kicked his third major in as many minutes and at quarter-time Naracoorte led 4-5- 29 to 2-0-12.
